We respect your privacy and are committed to handling your personal information openly and responsibly.
Jum Media is a small business. Although some small businesses are not directly bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), we have chosen to handle personal information in line with the Act and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) as a matter of good practice and respect for your privacy.
This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we hold and use it, who we share it with, and how you can access, correct or complain about the way we handle it.
1. The kinds of personal information we collect
Depending on how you deal with us, we may collect:
- Contact and identity details, such as your name, business name, email address, phone number and postal or delivery address.
- Enquiry and project details, such as the information you give us when you request a quote, make a booking, or brief us on an event or production.
- Billing and payment information, such as invoicing details and records of payments. Card payments are processed by our payment provider, and we do not store full card numbers ourselves.
- Records of our dealings with you, including correspondence, quotes, contracts and service history.
- Audiovisual material captured during our work, such as photographs, video and audio recordings of events we film or stream, which may include images or voices of identifiable people.
- Technical and website information, such as your IP address, browser type and pages visited, collected through cookies and analytics tools when you use our website.
- Mobile number and SMS consent records, where you opt in to receive text messages from us.
We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for our business functions and activities. We do not generally collect sensitive information. Where we film or record events, any images or recordings of identifiable people are collected with the knowledge of the event organiser, and we handle that material as described in section 4.
2. How we collect personal information
We collect personal information in a number of ways, including:

- In the course of delivering a project, including footage and recordings captured at events.
- Automatically, through cookies and analytics tools when you visit our website.
- From third parties in limited cases, such as a client or event organiser who provides your details as part of a booking, or a supplier we work with. Where we collect your information from someone other than you, we take reasonable steps to make sure you are aware of this policy.
3. Why we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information
We collect, hold, use and disclose personal information to:
- Respond to your enquiries and prepare quotes.

- Manage bookings, equipment hire, scheduling and delivery of projects.

- Maintain our business records and manage our relationship with you.
- Meet our legal, insurance and regulatory obligations.
We will only use or disclose your personal information for the purpose we collected it, for a related purpose you would reasonably expect, where you have consented, or where we are required or authorised by law.
4. Event footage, photographs and recordings
As an audiovisual production business, our work often involves filming, photographing or recording events, which may capture identifiable people. We handle this material to deliver the project you or the event organiser engaged us for.
With the agreement of the client or event organiser, we may also use selected footage or images in our portfolio, on our website, or in our marketing. If you appear in material we have captured and you would prefer we did not use it in this way, contact us using the details in section 12 and we will honour reasonable requests.
5. How we hold and protect your information
We hold personal information in electronic and, where relevant, physical form. Much of our information is stored in cloud based systems provided by reputable third parties, including our customer and project management platform, email and file storage, payment processing and analytics providers.
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These steps include access controls, secure systems and staff awareness. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to respond appropriately if a data breach occurs, including meeting our obligations under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme where they apply.
6. Who we disclose your information to, including overseas
We may disclose personal information to:

Where we disclose information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles. Overseas recipients are also subject to the laws of the countries in which they operate.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share mobile opt-in information or consent with third parties for their own marketing.
7. Direct marketing
We may send you marketing about our services where you would reasonably expect it or where you have consented, including by email and SMS. Every marketing message will give you a simple way to opt out, and we will action opt-out requests promptly. You can also ask us at any time to stop sending you marketing by contacting us using the details in section 12. Our electronic marketing is carried out consistently with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to help it function and to understand how visitors use it. Some of this information, such as your IP address, may be personal information. Any aggregated, non-identifying statistics we use for analytics exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent. You can set your browser to refuse cookies, though some parts of the website may not work as intended if you do.
10. Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and you can ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete or misleading. Contact us using the details in section 12. We will respond within a reasonable period. In most cases access is free, though we may recover reasonable costs in some situations, and we will tell you before any cost applies. If we cannot give you access or make a correction, we will explain why in writing.
